There is a wonderful non-profit organization called Journeys Within Our Community
We visited them in Siem Reap, Cambodia and saw first hand the great work that they do. We visited some of the water wells that they have dug for communities that have no decent source of water. We even visited "our" well that we donated. It was the most amazing and memorable part of a truly memorable trip.
Journeys Within Our Community is run by an American family who loved visiting Cambodia so much, they decided to live there. They opened a bed and breakfast, and started a non-profit to help the communities. We have met them and they are great people.
They also sponsor a school, sponsor college students, and more.

At the Sacramento Zoo
The three giraffes at the Sacramento Zoo are currently housed in a 50-year-old barn that is in desperate need of renovation. The aging wooden enclosure is small and drafty. Plus, it is quite cold during the winter. The zoo has made a commitment to build a new exhibit that would include a larger barn constructed of concrete block with multiple stalls, expanded outdoor grounds and an elevated public walkway where visitors can greet the giraffes eye-to-eye.
